Sadly, despite a tremendously brave fight and iron will and determination, our beloved Sharon passed away on Wednesday evening.  Many prayers had been said for her recovery, but it seems God in his wisdom decided her poor body had had enough, and Heaven needed a new angel.

I loved Sharon as a sister, even though we had never met. Ironically I was planning to fly out next month, and visit her with Mary Rickson, but it was not to be. My heart is full of tears, but also full of wonderful memories.  She will never be forgotten, and her wit, wisdom and love will live on forever in her books.

Oh my God, Lyn. I share your terrible sorrow. Her loss will resonate for a long time, but so will her inspiration. Hugs to you and everyone who was near to Sharon.

Oh my God, I am so sad to hear this. How very sad. She was always such an inspiration to me and would take the time out to personally write to me and give me encouragement. Though I'd never met her, I felt close to her, had even gotten her a pirate's mask when I was in New Orleans. She had a personable personality and I will miss her.

BTW, I had won the rose bush, Lasting Love, after which her book is named. It will be my Sharon rose.

Hi Lyn,

Sharon and I bonded three years ago when we met on The White Rose Yahoo group. Since then, we shared secrets, our joys, pain, and sorrows.

I still have most of the emails she sent to me. We cried on each other's shoulders and also shared the wonderful times.

I was just thinking about her last night and was going to mail her another card. Then I found the sad email this morning.

It seems surreal, but I'll have to accept it.

I know Sharon's in good hands now.

Hugs,
Laurie

Thank you for your kind messages. Sharon had so many friends who loved her and I know her sister Mary Beth, and her family have been touched by the outpouring of affection for her.

I know Mary Beth will read these messages on the blog, and I'll try to copy as many as I can and put in a collection so they're altogther.

She will be missed so dreadfully, but will her spirit, talent and lovely sense of humour will always remain with us.

Thank you for your kind words for Sharon, Sky, and your thoughtful concern for me. My heart is full of tears for my beloved friend, but I know it is so much harder for her famiy, I can only imagine what they're going throgh. Sharon was an inspiration and a treasure and leavesaq gaping void. Taken far too soon, but her words will always live on in her books.

By the way Julie, I know what the Lasting Rose meant to Sharon, she had one herself and loved it, although she said hers was a 'scrawny little thing' but it flowered the day she came out of hospital after her first operation.'Lasting Love'is such a beautiful story too.

How lovely that you have the rose bush that inspired her - a beautiful memorial.

I cannot express the sadness I feel at hearing of Sharon's passing. Sadness for me because, even though I never met her in person, she had the warmth and kindness that easily passed over the Internet and made me feel included and welcome wherever she was. May she finally be at peace, painfree, and enjoy never having to battle the stress and discomfort that only we here in this life must face. R.I.P dear, Sharon, you will be sorely missed and oft remembered.

I'm so saddened to hear about her passing. And will continue to pray for her soul and for her family.
I know in my heart that she is not only in a better place, but a truly wondrous place. I'm grateful she entertained me with her words and gave me lots of laughter. She will be missed.

How much one person has touched so many people is just something I cannot help but to feel touched by.
Sharon gave everyone she knew the same wonderful soul that we learned to love even over the internet!
She will be there when ever I see the beauty in life. How do you say goodbye when you don't want to? She was loved and cared about by many people and I am just starting to realize how many! Sharon I love you sweetie!

Ginger, and WW - thank you for adding to the tributes to Sharon, she had a way of making all her friends feel so special, and each one was, I know, very special to ehr.

Mary dear friend, you've summarised it perfectly. Her love was strong enough to transcend even her passing. She will never be forgotten.

Sharon, this is for you.
I will miss you. Your quick wit, your amazing imagination, the way you giggle, the love you gave, how you made me laugh, teased me back quicker then I could think of a comeback, you supported me when I needed it, you never complained, you have a wonderful innocence, but a wealth of knowledge, you are inspirational, you are gentle and kind, just to mention a few things. And I know that you are probably chuckling, embarrassed by now and saying, naw, right back to me. But, I have to tell you sweetie, it's all true. I loved being a Golden Girl, I loved to talk and spend time with you. So I am gonna continue to do it. You may not be able to answer me dear friend, but I will never forget you as long as I live. Lyn and I just missed you, but you were there in your room, waiting for us. We felt you there Sharon and we will keep you in our hearts. Until we meet again we'll settle for that... to The Golden Girls forever!!!

Amen, Mary! Nothing I could possibly add to that. XX
