I've ...Great to meet you Mary Beth and Ollie!

I've got one for ya! A spray bottle filled with water. Good ol' H2O does the trick for my dog! When I catch him doing something I don't want him to do, I spray him in the face with the water. It's completely harmless and he doesn't like it one bit. You have to catch him in the act, though, or you'll repeat the spraying. After two or three times of spraying him, it should register. Again, harmless but effective!

I saw them using this to train the dogs at the Petsmart and I like it a LOT better than the newspaper on the nose my step-dad used to use.

I hope that helps!!

That's my two pence...

Arial ;)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5151203768395758839.post-85408366005472911072011-03-23T13:08:14.294-07:002011-03-23T13:08:14.294-07:00Hi Lynne. thanks for the visit. What a fu...Hi Mary Beth, Sharon, Oliver, and Ollie! What a fun time to have with an adorable lab. My experience with dogs, especially large ones, is to supply them with rawhide bones to chew. They're doing what human babie do, teething and learning how to chew solid food.
We've just gone through quite an experience with our one-of-a-kind Teddy. Theodore B.D. (big dog). He was about the size of Ollie when we rescued him at nine weeks. He had big paws but we only learned later that his daddy was a Great Pyrenees. At eighteen months he's 140 pounds and still growing. Can you say,"Large Dog!"? lol
This morning, he's coursing our fairly large back yard with a twenty pound chunk of broken concrete clammped firmly in his jaw. Oh my! Thought I had that hidden away.
We've lost shoes, belts, and undies (I kid you not), to this see-it, eat-it monster. By the way, Mary's advice is good. Clamp down on his snout and hang on until he's ready to whimper. It won't hurt Ollie but it will dissuade him (eventually) from biting what you don't want him to bite.
Meanwhile, cheers and thanks for a fun post.
Pat DalePat Dalehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12190006506963492515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5151203768395758839.post-64168224211414072602011-03-23T07:56:58.997-07:002011-03-23T07:56:58.997-07:00Well having a lot of experience with the dog raisi...Well having a lot of experience with the dog raising thing I do have several good suggestions. Gloves, no just kidding. When my poochkies bit me I said no sternly and gave a gentle squeeze to the dogs closed snoot. Till you can tell he's not happy with it. Every time they bit me I squeezed that little sensitive nose gently to annoy them back. It soon stopped, and the multiple dog chews does help. They are so oral when they are young, they will grow out of it. You have to let them know on a pups level, that you are not pleased.
That said Nibby just chewed up a brand new whoopy cushion I got to fool DH. She has never chewed up a thing in her 10 months of life.
Go figure...
Love you Mary Beth!!! I wish I could give you a huge hug and do lunch with you and our Sharon every week! I think Ollie is a fantastic name and I wish you years of doggie love. They are soooo worth the trouble!!!Mary Ricksenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12676306822821614446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5151203768395758839.post-48402972691687533972011-03-23T07:08:25.254-07:002011-03-23T07:08:25.254-07:00Ollie is adorable.
